Omega-3
2g+ EPA/DHA daily.
Priority Matrix
The numbers.
Four dimensions, scored 1–6, where six is always the good end: cheapest, quickest, easiest, highest impact. Priority is Impact squared, divided by what it costs you in energy, money and time.
How sure we are
Kept separate from the priority score on purpose: confidence in the evidence never raises how worth-it something is.
What we read
- Cardiovascular Risk Reduction with Icosapent Ethyl for Hypertriglyceridemia
New England Journal of Medicine · 2019
In 8,179 statin-treated adults with high triglycerides, 4 g/day of icosapent ethyl cut the composite cardiovascular endpoint by 25% versus a mineral-oil placebo.
- Effect of High-Dose Omega-3 Fatty Acids vs Corn Oil on Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events in Patients at High Cardiovascular Risk
JAMA · 2020
In 13,078 high-risk adults, 4 g/day of EPA+DHA carboxylic acids versus corn oil was stopped for futility — no reduction in major adverse cardiovascular events.
Research from Brigham and Women's Hospital · Cleveland Clinic. We cite their published work. They have no involvement with Anew.
Where this falls down
Still unknown. REDUCE-IT and STRENGTH disagree, and they used different oils, different placebos, and different EPA/DHA mixes; over-the-counter fish oil at 2 g is not the prescription icosapent ethyl that won.
